ith the Crocco collection, Rome-based company Slamp's Nigel Coates — its creative director
since 2007 — plays with light in a visionary, innovative way. Presented at Euroluce 2013,
the collection consists of a series of wall lamps with a shiny steel support and a moulded
Lentiflex® shade in different hues, bringing softness to a sinuous form.



Coates explains the two interconnected ideas behind Crocco — a short name for
crocodile, an animal which the lamp’s twisting contours seek to evoke:
“The first was to create a modular lamp that could generate large wall or ceiling compositions.
I also wanted to explore a boomerang form showcasing the qualities of this material,
Lentiflex®. With a slash along the back, it opens like a mouth.”.....
