Slamp launches new Lighting Collection at Euroluce 2009

Slamp - Plafoniera - Pacis

Slamp, the innovative Italian lighting company, will launch three new lighting collections by the celebrated designer Nigel Coates at Euroluce (22-27 April 2009), the eagerly-awaited International Lighting Exhibition that runs alongside Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.

Since their inception in 1994, this Rome-based company has been dedicated to creating lights with character; lights that deliver a flash of artistry. Slamp are experts at exploring and playing with the effects of light and shade in a decorative and original way. Over the past fifteen years they have commissioned internationally famous designers for their lighting ranges both for the home and for public spaces. In the new collections, Creatures, Corona and Pacis, Nigel Coates explores ways of working with light and colour, to create witty yet affordable products.

The shapes of the sea urchin inspired the exquisite new Creatures ceiling lights. Here the combination of various densities and shapes of subtly graded colours and milky opal ‘spines’ give a stature, quality and atmosphere to any room, whether a bar, restaurant or an important space in your home. Available in three different sizes and colours (green, blue and orange), they can be used individually to dramatic effect, or could be hung together for more impact.
Ceilings have been waiting for the delectable and decorative Corona, an opaline circular pendant ceiling light that appears as though it is flying through the air. The innovative use of curved diamond shapes around a core of nine lamps results in a fitting that can transform a room, while the ability to angle the light, adds a complexity and richness to potential lighting effects.
Pacis is an innovative and opulent ceiling light that fits magnetically over the light-fitting. Its outer form evokes an Olympian crown of laurel leaves while its core is made up of crystal with LEDs and a low energy halogen. It is available in two different sizes and in two different finishes, white and gold.
All of Slamp’s lights embrace energy saving lamps and apply technologically advanced materials such as the light diffusing Opalflex® and the optically complex Cristalflex®. The use of these cutting edge technologically advanced materials has enabled Coates to create a collection of sophisticated and flexible lighting that complements Slamp’s existing lighting ranges.

Slamp - Lampade a sospensione - Crazy DiamondSlamp - Lampade da tavolo - Fiorellina
From the first creations of 1994 to the recent products of contemporary design, the Slamp products have characterized an age, dotted houses, and transformed the decor of any room. The company of Roberto Ziliani has dedicated its efforts to create lamps with character, lights leading artistic light in every room. This year the theme of the collections is summarized under the heading "Luxury on a Budget."
The new collection of lamps aims to express the idea of both contemporary and visionary, sophisticated and elegant but affable in the price.
This year Slamp have presented exciting new products and have organised their range into four families. These families, The Beauties, The Simples, The Futures, and The Totems, are partly based on functional typology, but also on their decorative language. The Beauties are rich, layered and have a chandelier-like stature. They include classics like Ginetta and Fiorella, and the exquisite new Creatures. On the other hand The Simples, like Goccia and Gemmy, are smaller, simpler and more playful. The Futures, including newcomers Corona and Pacis, have more abstract outlines, wheels that appear to spin across a room, or attach directly to the ceiling. And lastly The Totems bring sculptural form to the floor standing lamp, from the simplicity of the original Tube to the wavy columns of Dea.
All Slamp lights embrace energy saving lamps and apply technologically advanced materials such as the light diffusing Opalflex, or the optically complex Cristalflex. All products represent a close collaboration between Slamp and its principal designers: Nigel Coates, Stefano Papi, Luca Mazza and Adriano Rachele - the creative force behind the company.

Atlante - Table Lamp by Nigel Coates for Slamp
lunedì, aprile 27, 2009 | Author: Slamp

Slamp - Lampade da tavolo - AtlanteModern and timeless lighting design by Nigel Coates.
This lamp is a future classic. It’s beautiful and ultra modern but also has a sense of history about it. For me it conjures up images of smokey cocktail lounges of a by gone era, 1950s futurism and films like The Day The Earth Stood Still (the original).
The rest of the lighting collection at Slamp is not too shabby either. Every single piece is elegant, beautiful and unexpected. Check out the rest of the lighting range at Slamp.

If you have kids then you can start their design education early with a light shade from the kids department at Slamp. Check out the Fairies lampshade.

Luxury on a budget - Un modo nuovo di fare luce

The Beauties

The Easies

The Futures
Fluttuano nell’aria queste lampade dalle straordinarie forme astratte.

The Totems
